In September 1950, a weekly sound-film entertainment was commenced for the patients at a hospital for adult male mental defectives. During the year preceding the first of these entertainments the number of items of misbehaviour in the institution was 208 and, during the year following 352. The increase could have been due to numerous factors other than the commencement of the film-shows. The purpose of this investigation is to endeavour to determine if these entertainments affected the behaviour of the patients.
